Montegrappa is launching a limited-edition pen inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.

In a nod to Room 237 in the film, only 237 rollerballs and fountain pens will be made in the run, while other details include a Room 237 key-shaped clip and Jack’s silhouette engraved on the nib.

In a nod to the iconic, bloody, elevator door moment, a transparent window on the fountain pen reveals red ink inside, with ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ also inscribed on the end cap. At the top of the end cap is a rotating disc that references the hotel room door’s peephole and reveals an image of the twins from the film.

The pen comes in a display case that recreated the Torrance apartment door, complete with the REDRUM marking and an axe. The pens launch on April 27th and for more information, head to: https://www.montegrappa.com/en/collections/edizioni-limitate/stanley-kubrick-the-shining-1407.html. The deal was done by Stanley Kubrick’s licensing agent Caroline Mickler and its Italian agent, Lucci & Partners.
