The Lord of the Rings and Doctor Who to enter the world of Magic: The Gathering in 2023

The launches fall under Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond banner, which has previously introduced the likes of Stranger Things, The Walking Dead and Fortnite into the Magic brand.

Wizards of the Coast is bolstering its Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond range with new decks set in the worlds of Doctor Who and The Lord of the Rings.

Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond brand has previously introduced the likes of Stranger Things, The Walking Dead and Fortnite into the Magic brand.

In Q3 2023, players can journey to Mount Doom with Frodo, Aragorn, and the rest of the Fellowship on their quest to destroy The One Ring in a The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set.

“We are unabashedly excited for The Lord of the Rings, and for the vision of the timeless stories that we’ve worked so hard to bring to Magic in partnership with the people at Middle-earth Enterprises,” said Adam Styborski, Content Manager at Wizards of the Coast.

“The look and the feel for the world, the characters, the weapons, the locations, and the story moments are going to be intimately familiar yet fresh and relevant for a wider audience.”

Also launching next year is a Doctor Who Universes Beyond collection that includes Commander decks, collector boosters, and Secret Lair drops spanning the 60-year history of the sci-fi show
