Mattel is embarking on a five-year global partnership with The Museum of Modern Art for collaborations that span launches across Barbie, Hot Wheels, UNO and more.
Mattel Creations is launching the first capsule of seven products inspired by MoMA’s collection on November 11th at Mattel Creations, store.moma.org and at MoMA Design Stores in New York and Japan.
The range spans a Barbie doll inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night, Hot Wheels die-casts of the Jaguar E-Type Roadster and Citroën DS 23 Sedan, and a MoMA edition of UNO. Completing the line is a Magic 8 Ball inspired by Alma Woodsey Thomas’ Untitled and Little People Collector sets focused on Salvador Dalí and Claude Monet.
In addition, Mattel will sponsor The Museum of Modern Art’s Samuel and Ronnie Heyman Family Art Lab and its programs.

“Through Mattel Creations, we have been reimagining our brands as collectible, design-led experiences. Partnering with MoMA enables us to translate some of the world’s most iconic artworks and artists into amazing expressions of culture, design, and storytelling that will resonate with collectors and fans for years to come.”
Jesse Goldstine, Chief Retail Officer at MoMA, added: “MoMA has long championed the transformative power of art and design as a catalyst for education and creativity.
