Wigwam details Give Back initiative

“Since we started Wigwam we have always had one eye on the environment and doing good wherever we can,” said Ian Smith, Founder and MD at Wigwam Studio.

Creative studio Wigwam has expanded its Give Back initiative to give staff a choice in the charities that are supported through the scheme.

Wigwam donates 1% of all the money it makes to environmental and good causes. There is currently have a Wigwam wood consisting of nearly 8000 trees, and the studio has given money to Ukraine and homeless charities in the past.

This year, staff have been individually asked who they would like Wigwam to donate to. Names are drawn out of a hat to see who goes first and Wigwam will give the chosen charity for that quarter of the year 1% of all the money made in that period.

Most recently, it was the turn of Senior Illustrator Lee Rowan, who picked LOVE Amelia, a charity supporting families in Tyne & Wear and County Durham.

“Since recently becoming a father for the first time, I have rediscovered the absolute wonder of Christmas again, through the eyes of my child,” said Lee.

“However, it soon occurred to me just how fortunate my child and I are to have the emotional and financial support around us that we do. It was a sobering realisation that not every family and child will be as blessed to be in such a position. The pressure of the festive period alone is enough of a burden for a lot of parents – including myself – so I can only imagine what it must be like for those struggling in financial difficulty, or who don’t have any support network around them to assist… The thought of any child waking up on Christmas day and walking into an empty room, questioning if it’s because they haven’t been a good girl or boy this year breaks my heart.

“Through the Give Back project donation, we hope we can play a part in relieving some of the pressure for any struggling families during this time and allow as many disadvantaged children as possible to experience the magic that Christmas really can bring.”

Ian Smith, Founder and MD at Wigwam Studio, added: “Since we started Wigwam we have always had one eye on the environment and doing good wherever we can.

“It forms a huge part of who we are as individuals and our company ethos.”
