Vintage jigsaws, die-cast Dinky Toys and rare promo items feature in new exhibit of cult toy collectibles.
The Museum of Brands and Anderson Entertainment have announced an upcoming celebration of cult toy collectibles. Exhibits include jigsaws, board games, comics, confectionery promo items… And die-cast Dinky Toys complete with their packaging.
The special exhibition helps mark landmark anniversaries of two smash-hit TV shows: Thunderbirds and Space 1999. They first broadcast 60 and 50 years ago respectively. Pioneered by TV industry legends Gerry and Sylvia Anderson, both shows remain cult favourites to this day.
Opening on September 13th, 2025, the displays are co-curated by Alice Kain from the Museum of Brands and acclaimed designer Malcolm Garret, MBE. They promise to showcase over 400 carefully preserved items, many of which are on public display for the first time. Other major TV shows in the collection include Stingray, Captain Scarlet, Supercar, Fireball XL5 and UFO.
Explaining the impetus behind the exhibition, co-curator Alice Kain said: “These weren’t just toys… Each figure, board game and annual represents hours of imaginative play where ordinary bedrooms could be transformed into International Rescue headquarters or Moonbase Alpha.”
Jamie Anderson, son of the late Gerry Anderson, added: “Quite often, it’s the toys, games and collectables associated with the shows that bring people the most joy… To have so many special pieces of nostalgia in one place will, for many, be a powerful and visceral reminder of why these shows endure decades on from their creation!”
A VIP Opening event is to be held on Saturday 13th September 2025. VIP entry tickets offer exclusive content, special guests and a Q&A with the exhibition’s curators and collectors for £50. The exhibition closes on 28th February 2026.
