A Little People, BIG DREAMS apparel collection – created by Poetic Brands – has landed in Tesco.

The initial range includes colourful t-shirts for year-round wear, and features artwork of the personalities represented in the books, including Jane Austen, Mahatma Gandhi, Frida Kahlo and Pele. Extensions of the apparel line into sweatshirts and nightwear are on the way.

Created by author and Creative Director Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara, the series has grown to over 120 books that aim to inspire children with real-life stories of artists, scientists, musicians and other well-known figures.

“From an early stage we knew that the creativity, fun and learning that have made Little People, BIG DREAMS so popular around the world would have a strong appeal in carefully chosen high-quality licensing partners – and so it has proved,” said Peter Marley, Publisher at Frances Lincoln Children’s Books.

“Poetic Brands has done a wonderful job of bringing the colour and celebration of the books to a delightful range of apparel that will be a marvellous addition at Tesco outlets throughout the country on World Book Day.”

Anne Bradford, Director at Poetic Brands, added: “The diverse characters, broad and universal audience appeal and exquisite illustrations that have made Little People, BIG DREAMS so popular have also been perfect for a range of children’s apparel that celebrates inspirational people throughout history.

Rob Wijeratna, Joint Managing Director of Rocket Licensing, said: “The high-quality writing, illustration and production values that underpin Little People, BIG DREAMS have made this a brand ideal for consumer product development. The positive retail reaction to the wonderful Poetic Brands apparel range in the run-up to World Book Day is entirely appropriate for this great property and, with more potential partners on the way, we’re looking forward to bringing many more categories to many more markets.”

The Point.1888 is helming the brand’s UK licensing push for Super Sema’s parent company, Kukua.

Specialist apparel licensee Poetic Brands has partnered with ASOS to design and manufacture a 38-piece Pokémon apparel.

The range spans tees, dresses, hoodies, knitwear, denim shorts, a denim jacket, denim short dungarees, swimwear and accessories.

“Pokémon is instantly recognisable and loved globally,” said Anne Bradford, Commercial Director of Poetic Brands.

“The twenty-somethings who grew up with the brand, are now the fashion forward ASOS customer, so the collaboration has the perfect synergy. Gen Z is also seeking nostalgic comfort in a pre-social media era, as they reminisce about old, joyful times while gaming, and therefore ‘gamerstalgia’ is trending.

“We’ve really enjoyed bringing these iconic characters to the ASOS collection and are looking forward to seeing the designs being worn by fans.”

Mathieu Galante, Licensing Director EMEA at The Pokémon Company International, added: “We are thrilled to launch this Nineties-inspired cross category collection in partnership with Poetic Brands and ASOS. The diverse apparel range has something for everyone across ASOS’s core market of young adults.”

Poetic Brands has signed a deal to launch a line of Tour de France apparel, spanning t-shirts, hoodies, nightwear, underwear and beachwear.

Designs for the new range use the contrasting yellow and black logo, along with silhouettes of cyclists, motivational slogans such as ‘Allez!’ and key milestones from the world-famous race.

“It’s a real honour to be working with Tour de France for a clothing range and we’re over the moon with the initial designs,” said Anne Bradford, Director at Poetic Brands.

“A sporting event with such heritage offers a wealth of creative assets to design a striking and hugely wearable collection and we’re really looking forward to presenting these to retail.”

Simon Gresswell, owner of SGLP – who brokered the deal – added: “In a landmark year for the Tour, with the first official Tour de France Femmes also being staged shortly after the annual men’s event this year, now is the best time to extend the Tour de France opportunity into core, relevant categories.

“It’s a pleasure to have brought Poetic Brands and the ASO together, as they share complementary creative and commercial ambition for the brand. With EVANS already appointed as an Official Retail partner in the UK and the reach and power of Fanatics on the e-commerce side, the right foundations are in place to build both an event and year-round licensing programme for this pinnacle brand in the world of cycling.”
