Superplastic has teamed with The Weeknd to launch a limited-edition vinyl toy collection marking the 10th anniversary of his debut album, Kiss Land.

The collection drops on September 10th, exactly 10 years after Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye released Kiss Land. The range draws inspiration from the ‘desolate, atmospheric setting portrayed in the album’s moody lyrics and mascot, Super Fantastic Red Panda Cat’.

The line-up features Superplastic’s SuperJanky design, which includes three premium vinyl figures in Green, Black, and Red, all accessorised with removable VR goggles covering 3D eyes. The Green colourway is available for outright purchase, while the black and red colourways are sold as blind boxes.

“The Weeknd is consistently reshaping the artistic landscape through his versatile contribution to music and television; the 10th anniversary of Kiss Land is a special milestone, symbolising a pivotal moment that propelled his career to new heights,” said Superplastic’s Chief Development Officer, Ioana Banu.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with Abel and his team on a very limited collection of Superplastic vinyl art toys, allowing us to pay homage to this monumental occasion.”

Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye added: “It’s surreal to look back on 10 years since the release of Kiss Land and to see the lasting impact this album has had on me as an artist and how it continues to be received by my fans.

“The Kiss Land collection is in recognition of this journey we are on together, and I am grateful to Superplastic for helping to bring this vision to life and celebrate this special moment.”

The Kiss Land collection is available online at superplastic.co, at the Superplastic Store in NYC and on shop.theweeknd.com.

Universal Studios has partnered with The Weeknd to launch a haunted house experience inspired by his After Hours album.

After Hours will play throughout the experience as guests step into a surreal living nightmare filled with themes and characters inspired by The Weeknd’s music and short films – including slashers, bandaged maniacs and gruesome toad-like creatures.

“I always wanted my own Halloween Horror Nights haunted house as Halloween has always been significant to my music, so this is a total dream come to life,” said Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye.

“I feel like my music videos have served as a launching pad for a collaboration like this, and I cannot wait for people to experience this madness!”

Charles Gray, Senior Show Director for Entertainment Creative Development at Universal Orlando Resort, added: “This is an unprecedented haunted house that is going to shatter the expectations of our guests and immerse them in an unforgettable experience that is equally unexpected and terrifying.”

The Weeknd: After Hours Nightmare will take place at Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood on select night from September 8th to October 31st as part of Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights.
